Ramesh Ferris was born in Coimbatore, India. He contracted polio at the age of 6 months 25 years after the release of Dr. Jonas Salk's polio vaccine. This paralyzed his legs for life. Ramesh was the first international adoption in Canada's Yukon Territory and he currently resides in Whitehorse, Yukon. In 2008 Ramesh created the Cycle to Walk polio campaign and hand cycled 7140kms across Canada to raise funds and awareness for polio eradication, education & rehabilitation. Ramesh is now a Global Health Advocate and promotes end polio and vaccines for all. He has partnered with Global Citizen, Rotary International, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, WHO and UNICEF to raise awareness in ending polio and equal access to vaccines for every child, everywhere. He has travelled throughout the United States, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Australia, India, and has met with countless world leaders, heads of state, musicians, actors, rotarians and global citizens.
