This Iraqi Team Aims to Decrease the Diabetes Rates
According to International Diabetes Federation, in 2015 the total cases of diabetes in adults had reached to 1,261.9 and the number in a constant increase.

Diabetes is caused by the high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period, Symptoms of high blood sugar include frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger, If left untreated, diabetes can cause many complications.
In the light of above-mentioned facts, a deliberate reaction needed to changes the current medical situation at Iraq.
Thus a voluntary team composed of Iraqi Medical students started a campaign called “Chay mor” or sugar free tea in English, their first field activity was held at the middle of the well-known street at Baghdad Al-Mutanabi Street the event included awareness about diabetes and hypertension, measuring the levels of sugar and blood pressure.

Furthermore, their actions included presenting medical workshops concerned in measuring blood glucose.

Meanwhile, the campaign expanding through social media by a challenge called #Sugar_Free_Tea, where the idea of the challenge is recording yourself drinking a tea without sugar to support diabetic patients, where there is public figures, people doing this challenge and challenging their friends to try the tea without sugar.
"As part of our campaign we have presented 5 workshops and organized 6 field events and presented a conference about Diabetes, meanwhile, our campaign is reaching up more people through social media. we aim to do more for developing the health awareness in our country" Director of Chay Mor campaign Heyam Basil told Global Citizen.
