RAVINDRAN’S JOURNEY: “I WANT YOU TO KNOW”
It takes courage to confront your past and it takes guts to admit you were wrong. Here’s one man’s story of how he broke through social norms and inspired many others to break their silence surrounding gender-based violence. It took him 50 years to change a behaviour he acquired as a child when trying to establish his manhood.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 35 percent of women worldwide, more than one billion, have or will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. The premise of the WEvolve campaign launched by the World Bank in 2015 is that young people – both men and women – can develop a new way of thinking, change their behaviors and build healthy and fair relationships. This generation has the potential of breaking ancestral patterns that deeply wound all of society.
